Called the 'City of Sails' due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbour, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly offers a blast!
Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sporting events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of the Viaduct Harbour.
Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 192 metres!
Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?
Getting to the city centre is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect accommodation for your holiday.
We were here as a family. It is perhaps not the most family friendly place right in the city so we drove out to other places outside of the city everyday.
There were lots of car parks doing cheap "early bird" car parks so parking is good value for a capital city making driving more affordable. Parking on the road costs alot more though.
The food options are good. From food courts to K Road, the Sky Tower and more fine dining. There is a new food court and new shopping lanes in the old shopping mall on the end of queens Street near britomart that was quite cool and the shopping options and quality has greatly increased since last time I was in Auckland.
There are a number of options for work out classes and gyms including hot yoga and hiit plates.
We found that there was a general calm about the place compared to many capital cities and although it rained alot we found that the sun returned quite quickly.
There are lots of pay to ride scooters dotted around good for saving the children's legs. It cost around ten dollars to get from 2/3 way down queen street to the bottom near the harbour.
There is an arcade and cinema halfway down queen street, the arcade was very reasonably priced and you top up a card which you can use over different occasions if you want to.
The sky tower was a nice evening with a great view of sunset and the city.
People are very friendly and chill here.
There is good access to soo many beaches and the many other tourists sports like the mineral baths, glow worms, lake taupo, the many many beaches and bays, a butterfly park and rainbows end also within easy driving distance and lots of malls just off motorway 1 both North and south in direction.

This was our first time in Auckland and just wanted to get to know the city a little better. The Sky Tower is a must see and will give you a great sense of where everything is. We enjoyed some cocktails and food at the restaurant late in the afternoon and watched the sun go down. I was quite surprised at the number of historical and cultural activities available and wish we could have spent more time. If you get out of town you can discover a lot of beautiful parks and monuments

I lived in Auckland previously for about 10 years. So I know the city well. Traffic in this city is terrible, so you might want to avoid leaving your accommodation early in the morning or driving around from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays. It is a very convenient place for shopping, but it is not safe in some parts. t is best to avoid staying in the western and southern parts of Auckland if possible.

Dining excellent and service impeccable at new Queens restaurant at 1 Queen Street. Location of accommodation excellent and walking to appointment within range, however to get anywhere else, using Uber is a great way to travel given the traffic woes and changes in traffic flow layout since last visiting Auckland.
Fantastic stay at Aarangi Motel. Beautiful large clean room, just 100m from a lovely beach, bars and bus stop to the city centre ( buses every 15 minutes) Despite the weather being very hot and humid the room was beautifully airy and we rarely needed to use the two fans provided. Veronica was a great host and, nothing was too much trouble. With access to Auckland CBD just a 15 minute bus ride away I think we would always stay here in preference to a city hotel / apartment. Thank you very much Team Aarangi, you made our stay superb
Front door has mortice lock, no danger of being locked out or latch being carded.
The room is as advertised except no balcony, safety deposit box, ironing facilities, spa bath or minibar, Although on front of house not noisy, I was not there during the day but the street seemed quiet when I was. close to bus routes into Auckland, the house is in Parnell midway between Parnell and Newmarket (Extensive shopping) train stations (For airport/CBD). I’d stay there again if I had reason to visit the Parnell area.
Close to South Auckland and the Airport with generous parking. On site restaurant is good but with a limited menu options if you're staying for more than a few days. There is one local Indian takeaway otherwise have it delivered. The Yellow bus works well also as does the lounge display of flight status at Auckland Airport. It must be OK as this was my 4th visit. Beds were generous and crispy. Shower was large and hot. WIFI was fast enough for CAD files.
We stayed in the Ambassador Suite. It was very spacious, with a large lounge, dining table, small kitchen, comfy king bed and a large bathroom. The unit was clean and overlooked a swimming pool and had views over a lagoon. The property is located 25 minutes drive from the airport, but with easy access to Auckland CBD. Sylvia Park Mall is 15 minutes walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful and responded promptly and effectively to our requests.
Warm, spotless, quiet, luxurious. Great access to Airport & out of the City hustle. Comfortable rooms /dreamy beds / melt in your mouth food. Amazing hospitable receptionist / staff, particularly inviting on arrival & so helpful. Loved Kevin Tautau the Concierge who made us feel like family. Kevin & the staff's hospitality & the exceptional hotel & service is the reason this hotel is the only choice for our family now on in Auckland.
Good central location near City Works Depot. Was great to have a car park - a rare treat in Auckland CBD! We booked last minute for our work conference as our other accommodation fell through, and the hosts had a quick response and were easy to deal with. The place was spacious, clean and tidy. We were disappointed that we couldn't stay longer to really enjoy the space. Very happy with our stay.
Plenty of free parking, which was a huge stress relief. Our room was comfortable, we had a great view, and all the facilities we may need. We also enjoyed the location of the Hotel, as it was out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but only minutes away from anything the CBD has to offer. A very easy commute to Spark Arena as well, just a few minutes drive. Value for money.
I think this is the coolest hotel I have ever stayed at! When in Auckland, it would be a shame staying elsewhere.
The hotel is very, very interesting and unusual, and every little detail is very well thought of.
The bathroom and the balcony were very spacious and comfy.
Not too far from the city center.
Very comfy, convenient and trendy.
We loved it!
This is an excellent airport hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the domestic terminal and directly across from the international terminal. We stayed here on our last night in Auckland and the hotel made it extremely easy. Rooms were spacious and had every amenity we could ask for. They have a restaurant onsite for dinner and breakfast.
The hotel is well-located near Auckland's city centre, viaduct and universities.
The room was spacious with a large bed, big self-service kitchen and a balcony with good view.
I particularly liked the washing/dryer combination in the unit.
Staff was very helpful when there was a problem with the automatic credit card payment.
This Hotel is very close to the Airport, it was clean, bed was comfy and the room was compact but I could walk around, it is a Budget hotel and for 1 night it was fine. Also had a TV and Tea, hot chocolate & coffee in the room. A small fridge. Free parking for the night. Next door was a Countdown supermarket.
So close to the International Airport. An easy exit on an early morning flight. Liked everything and have compared it with other cheaper hotels and this is by far the best offering. The bistro has good cuisine and wine selection and is still open at 9pm which helps when come in on a relatively late flight.
Awesome customer service catered to my request complimentary cereal n biscuits n extras in the fridge good value for your money $20 car parks cheapest I’ve come across nice tidy clean comfy apartment have used most hotels in Auckland and this will now be my go to definitely recommend it
I have used this hotel before as the price fits into my budget.
I'm not a typical customer here as it is mostly for airport users, but it is nice and central.
You can park your car outside the door, I really like this feature.
The continental breakfast was ok.
Comfy bed:)
Very convenient to the airport for a departure the next day. Breakfast was included and dinner was also available which is what you want before a flight.
Great value for money.
Free parking behind the hotel and only a short distance to our car rental company.
The hotel has a good car parkinf, and it isn't too far from Auckland airport. The bed was comfortable, and the room size was good. The hotel is new so everything was in good condition. The breakfast was very adequate with enough choices.
After a long day walking around Auckland's CBD and some of the closer malls, The first thing we wanted to do was jump into bed once we got back to the hotel. The bed was made well, Presented to be clean and was very comfortable.
The room was clean & the beds comfortable & we were lucky enough to get a park right outside the unit.
Close proximity to Auckland airport too which was great.
